Can You Have a Full Mouth of Dental Implants?

7 Mar 2019 by  admin in Dental Implants Resources

Whether you’re missing a few teeth or large sections of your dental structure, dental implants can be an easy and effective way to restore your smile to its natural brilliance. The experts at Innovative Oral Surgery can even replace all of your teeth with an All-on-4 or All-on-6 dental implant solution, leaving you with attractive and natural looking results.

Full Mouth Implants

All-on-4 or All-on-6 implants offer a range of advantages over conventional dentures, looking and functioning just like natural teeth and engineered to endure long-term. They also allow our patients to retain more ability to bite and chew.

Our full implant options also deliver benefits below the surface. Tooth loss can cause recession of the jawbone if left untreated, leading to a collapsed and sunken look. Full mouth dental implants prevent the bone that surrounds teeth from deteriorating over time. These implants also fuse with your jawbone over time, preserving its strength and integrity.

Transform Your Smile

Transforming your smile with full mouth dental implants is a relatively simple process, but must be performed over a few months. First, the base of the implants is positioned in your jawbone and left to integrate with your bone to form stable anchors for your new teeth. The process takes anywhere from 8 weeks to half a year depending on your body’s healing factor, and we can provide a temporary tooth replacement to wear over the site in the meantime.

When the implant platforms have fully set within the jawbone, we will ensure the anchors are properly exposed before attaching extensions and other connective components to complete the foundation on which your permanent teeth can be attached. Once your gums heal completely from this part of the process, your teeth can be placed onto the anchors by clipping them onto the connective components.

Full Implant Maintenance

Because full dental implants attach directly to the bone, they do not require removal for cleaning like conventional dentures. Dental implants perform just like your old teeth, and you can talk, chew, and smile with confidence once your procedure is complete.

All-on-4 and All-on-6 dental implants can be cared for very similarly to natural teeth, and we recommend brushing twice a day with a silica-based toothpaste, as well as daily flossing to keep particles and debris from building up. We also advise our patients to have their implants examined by our dentists a few times yearly.
