Replacement of an Implant and Prosthesis in the Premaxilla Due to a Malposition and Prosthetic Failure:
A Clinical Case Letter
A study by Dr. Nick Augenbaum and Dr. Elliot Koschitzki was published in the prestigious Journal of Oral Implantology, (December 2014, Vol. 40, No. 6, pp. 751-754), where the doctors replaced a patient’s dental implant that failed (performed by another dentist) due to malposition and prosthetic failure. In the study, Dr. Nick and Dr. Elliot discuss the reasons for the dental implant failure, which was due to a slight malposition of the original implant.
They review the failed bone graft and why it also failed due to malposition. Beware, the photos below are graphic, but they do show how Dr. Nick and Dr. Elliot replaced the implant and crown and restored the tooth, in addition, the aesthetics of the tooth were restored to the patient’s complete satisfaction.
