If you can’t imagine giving up your morning cup, though, do try to dilute it with milk, limit your daily intake, and wash your mouth immediately afterward.

The dark color of red wines can create dark stains on your teeth, and the acidity of white wine can break down the enamel, making your teeth more vulnerable to other stains. If you find it hard to pass on a glass, it’s best to choose a white and sip it through a straw.
Many fruits and fruit juices are super acidic, which can be uncomfortable on sensitive teeth. Plus, any dark-colored fruits and juices, like blackberries or cranberry juice, could stain your newly colored teeth. It’s best to stick to less acidic and lighter colored fruits the days following your whitening.
While it’s best to always avoid tobacco use, it’s especially crucial after a teeth whitening session. Smoking can cause brown and yellowish nicotine stains on the teeth, and can quickly darken your shade of white. Some patients may use alternative methods or products to help them fight the craving.
It’s great to keep your teeth clean, especially after whitening, but some oral health products can cause staining. Stay clear of blue or green colored mouthwashes and toothpastes. Instead, stick to a neutral-toned or natural mouth rinse.
It’s good to be mindful of how certain foods, drinks, and habits can leave their trace on our teeth. However, it’s also OK if you aren’t perfect. Try your best to stick to a good post-whitening care routine, and if you do cheat a bit, be sure to rinse your mouth thoroughly and give it a good brush. Washing won’t completely diminish the effects but can help to minimize it.
